COURSE DESCRIPTION

In this workshop, I will share my unique process of using colored clay, colored slips & stencils to create patterned ceramic tableware. Using hand building techniques, students will create a small collection of patterned tableware. Through a series of demonstrations, students will design and make stencils, learn how to make colored clay and understand how to make a plaster slab. This workshop is modeled directly from my studio practice. You will learn technique and process as well as my design approach and philosophy. Workshop content is suitable for all levels, from beginners to advanced. Enrollment is limited to 6 participants per session.

TRAVEL TO AND FROM THE STUDIO

Transportation to and from the studio is the responsibility of each particpant.

PICK UP / SHIPPING FINISHED WORK

There will be one bisque and one glaze firing during the course of the workshop. Each student will take home at least one finished piece, if not several more on Friday. It really depends on the pace of each individual! In summer of 2019, several students were able to take home 3-5 finished pieces at the end of the class.

We will continue to work in clay even after we start the bisque kiln. Unfired work can be left behind and I will bisque, glaze and fire those pieces. I am happy to ship those pieces once they are finished, however, shipping is not included in the cost of the workshop and participants will be billed for associated shipping & handling costs. Your work will ship approximately 2 weeks following the end of the workshop.
